Fresh off the heels of CNN’s explosive report on the insurance industry’s practice of coercing shops to use cheap parts and sometimes dangerous practices, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers/New Jersey (AASP/NJ) is proud to announce the addition of “Steering: A Legal Perspective,” at this year’s 38th annual NORTHEAST 2015 Automotive Services Show. Moderated by AASP/NJ Executive Director Charles Bryant, the panel discussion will feature attorneys James Mackevich, Joshua S. Bauchner and Mitch Portnoi discussing solutions to collision repair claims, as well as issues raised in the CNN report from a legal point of view. The NORTHEAST 2015 show takes place March 20, 21 and 22, 2015 at the Meadowlands Exposition Center (MEC) in Secaucus, NJ.

“This has been a hot button issue in our industry for a long, long time,” Bryant says from the AASP/NJ home office in Neptune, NJ. “The CNN report was fantastic, primarily because it focused on the process that the great majority of consumers were not aware of. As a shop owner, being aware of your legal rights in regard to this process, especially when dealing with or without a direct repair program, is what we plan to focus on during our panel discussion.”

Mackevich, Bauchner and Portnoi have all worked closely with Bryant and AASP/NJ on many issues, both legal and legislative over the years. “Our panelists are as qualified as any legal team in the country to speak on these topics,” Bryant adds. “All three know our industry extremely well.”

“Steering: A Legal Perspective,” will be presented Saturday, March 21 at 11am in the upstairs press room.
