This past week, the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ) held their regional training seminars featuring Larry Montanez of P&L Consultants in Totowa and Toms River, NJ. Both seminars covered everything from new repair technologies to Labor Rates. All who attended the seminars received training certificates good towards renewal of shops’ 2016 New Jersey Auto Body License. Meetings were open to both members and non-members of AASP/NJ as AASP/NJ encourages all shops to take part in this vital training.
As Montanez stood in front of the packed rooms filled with coffee cups and intrigued repairers, he prompted a popular topic of debate that seems to be coming up in every automotive publication: pre-and post-scanning.
“How many people look up repair information upon every single car when they write an estimate?” asked Montanez. “You cannot assume anything in this industry…we are in an age now that is rapidly changing. Not having the time is simply not an excuse anymore.”
As expected, Montanez was more than ready to educate technicians from all over NJ with his years of collision repair expertise. He made sure to express to his listeners the importance of safety and how doing diagnostic checks to the vehicle is a vital part of every technician’s job. He raised thought-provoking questions that had attendees engaged throughout the two-hour seminars.
“One of our top priorities is to make sure our members are educated and prepared for the regulations required,” AASP/NJ President Jeff McDowell says. “Having someone are knowledgeable as Larry come in and help us with that is invaluable. Our goal is for all the collision repair shops in the state to join AASP/NJ so that everyone is educated and in compliance.”
