The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ) hosted their fifth Annual Race Night this past week at Pole Position Raceway in Jersey City. An event normally held to boost camaraderie between automotive repair shops added a special touch this year with AASP/NJ raising $1,000 to donate to fighting prostate cancer.

The night was kicked off by pizza and drinks and followed by a practice race, a qualifier and the exciting finale, which pitted the top two racers from each qualifier to determine the event’s winner. Close to 50 racers turned out in their best Richard Petty imitations with Brian Natale (Pace Collision) taking first place; Pedro Suares (Maxon Mazda/Hyundai) second; and Kyle Bossick (Ocean Bay Auto Body) third place.

“This is one of my favorite nights of the year,” says AASP/NJ President Jeff McDowell. “It really gets our minds off the job for a couple of hours and lets us relax, compete and have fun. We came up worth the idea to donate this year because so many friends and members of AASP/NJ have been affected with prostate cancer over the years. It gives us an opportunity to give back.”
